March Madness of Our Own

Just four days after celebrating Caden's actual day of birth and nine days before my birthday we had another birthday sandwiched in there to celebrate, and a big one at that -- Joshua's eighth! With all the excitement over the baby we wanted to try our best to make it a special day for Joshua, and I think we did a pretty good job considering we had a brand new baby.

It was the last day of school before spring break and it set a great celebratory mood for bringing treats into his class. Jake and Jayne came bearing donuts and it sounds like the kids really enjoyed them and Joshua thought it was pretty cool.

Towards the back you'll see Joshua getting to pick a couple of birthday prizes from a treasure chest (Jayne said it was an actual chest -- it sounded impressive):

We went the Cold Stone route and ordered their ice cream cupcakes and cookie sandwiches. I knew I wouldn't be in much shape to make a cake (I'm still kind of traumatized from Lucas's cake from a couple of months ago)

Lots of Nerf stuff this year. It's become quite the rage at our house/friend's houses:

Plenty of Lego stuff too, heavy on the Pharaoh's Quest sets which are way cool because they contain mummy figures -- flying mummies, even!

Bop It was a runaway success and all of the kids love playing it. Highly recommend this as a gift for the kids in your life!

Caden was pretty fussy during the gift opening and Jayne was such a saint and held him during that time. Thanks Jayne!

Happy Birthday Joshua! We wanted to make you feel special because we love you so much. Thank you for joining our family eight years ago and helping us kick off our journey on the path of parenthood. You have taught us more than you will ever know, at least not until you become a parent yourself someday. What a joy you are to us!

Fun Visitors!

We actually had a great hospital stay, my favorite out of the four. Jake and I got to spend some real quality time with our new baby while Joshua, Daniel and Lucas got to spend some real quality time of their own with Grandma Sorensen. It was so wonderful to have her with us and to know our children were in such good hands so we could focus on our newest addition. Caden basically slept the entire hospital stay which was great! I just had a real sense of peace and calm the whole time and it was such a blessing.

Jayne brought the kids to the hospital to meet their new baby brother and it was so great to see them and introduce them to Caden. It was such a fun visit. After they left the nurse said she could totally see Caden's resemblance to his brothers which was fun to hear. It's still a little too soon for us to tell and we're so used to seeing them it's hard to tell anyway, but I trust her objective observation and I'm glad to hear it :).

Introducing Caden James Sorensen! Born Monday March 14th at 5:33pm, weighing 8 lbs 12 oz, measuring 21 1/4 inches in length. Caden is so precious and we are so very happy he has joined our family. We are thrilled to finally meet him and have him here with us!
