Our Fourth of July

We had a nice holiday this year and of course celebrated our Fourth of July Boy's birthday. We attended Hillsboro's parade for the first time and had a lot of fun. Caden was even able to sleep during a portion of it in spite of all the noise. What a baby!

Lots o' candy to gather

This is just a cute one of Lucas from behind :)

Here's the birthday boy!

I think Daniel had a pretty good birthday this year. We had time for him to open his presents before the parade and then he had plenty of time to play with them afterward while I made the cupcakes, etc. I love that we are able to do holiday and birthday activities interspersed throughout the day. It gives it such a festive feel.

Later in the evening Jake took Joshua and Daniel out to do some minor fireworks. Our neighbors across the street were doing the same thing with their boys so they combined and had a great time. I wish I had gotten some pictures -- I'll try to remember for next year.

Happy birthday Daniel! We sure hope we were able to make you feel special on your birthday. You are such an important part of our family. I love seeing how your creative mind works each and every day. Keep making your books -- we love them!

Way to go Daniel! You look so grown up. Will you bring some of your books when you come down to visit? It was fun to hear your opinions and observations about the 4th of July and your birthday during our birthday conversation. Have you and Joshua and Lucas had good enough weather to try the water slide out again?
Love you all lots, see you in a week.
